Clara Amfo is one of British radio and television’s most dynamic voices and faces. An award winning broadcaster, podcaster and television presenter best known for her work on BBC Radio 1, where she hosted the official chart and the world famous Live Lounge. She currently hosts the prestigious FutureSounds show, breaking the new music from rising and established artists.

As a trusted and skilled interviewer, to date she has sat down with some of the world’s most prolific artists including Jay-Z, Kendrick Lemar, Sir Elton John and Billie Eilish.

 

With music, the arts and live television being obvious passions, she has delighted in hosting many cultural highlights including, The BRITS Awards red carpet show, Glastonbury, fashion competition series The Drop, BBC Young Dancer, TOTP Christmas, The Proms, Global Citizen Live and the inaugural Earth Shot prize which went on to win a television BAFTA in 2022.

 

Her work has seen her recognised on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Grazia, Stylist and British Vogue and more recently, she was named as an ambassador for Pantene UK and a trustee for The Royal Academy Of Arts. Clara is also a proud ambassador of Bloody Good Period, founding their 'Bloody Good Music' event fundraising vital funds for the charity.

In 2020 Clara took part in the eighteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing leaving the show with a leaderboard topping Charleston, an extra passion for dance and an army of new fans. 2021 saw Clara pick up the award for Best Radio Show at The Music Week awards for the second year running and BPG’s Audio Presenter Of The Year. She launched her podcast ‘This City’ with guests including Louis Theroux, Dina Asher Smith, Mark Ronson and Billy Porter, all sharing their stories about London with her.

 

As an enthusiastic lover of cinema, Clara has hosted Film on BBC and is part of the BAFTA presenting team capturing the excitement of the red carpet live for both the film and television ceremonies. To date she’s hosted a range of film premieres including Marvel’s Black Panther, Disney’s The Lion King and No Time To Die, launching the latter globally from Jamaica.

Clara enjoyed a dream come true, sitting alongside Mama Ru as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, another surprise dream was realised via International Women’s Day, when Clara had the honour of being immortalised as a Barbie® Shero doll which is pride of place in her office!

 

2022 is set to be another exciting year with the continuation of her radio show, podcast, new writing ventures and television projects, including new reality series 'Written In The Stars' launching globally in autumn on Discovery Plus.
